Here’s a super pocket cruiser with lots of character. Hailing from a highly reputable Finnish yard, the Bella 703 is capable little displacement cruiser with a no-nonsense propulsion set-up: a single 40HP Yanmar diesel, driving a four-bladed prop on shaft. Very reliable, uncomplicated and economical. This particular example was built in 2005, but looks newer. She has pretty much all you need for week-ending or even longer: a compact galley with fridge and sink, and a Wallas paraffin hob that doubles as a neat cabin heater. In warmer weather, a full width sliding roof lets the sunshine in. There is plentiful stowage, both in the cockpit and the saloon. In the cabin there’s excellent headroom. The forepeak and dinette convert quickly into good-sized berths and there is a discreet sea-toilet complete with holding tank. There is excellent all-round access to the engine, which is located under a cowling in the cockpit, cunningly disguised as the cockpit table, curved around which, the U-shaped seating lends itself to conviviality. Best of all, with her canoe stern she stands out from the crowd. This is a fine vessel, with endearing looks and reassuring practicality.
