BoatshedBVI www.boatshedbvi.com was once again privileged to race on the beautiful 1962 57’ Abeking & Rasmussen ketch at this year’s Antigua Classic.

A great turn out saw about 60 classic yachts from 24’ Dragons up to the huge 130’ J class Yachts including Velsheda and Ranger.

The regatta consisted of 4 different courses out of Falmouth Harbour each covering about 20 miles which gave each yacht the opportunity to show their mettle both upwind and downwind. BoatshedBVI missed the heavy winds that favoured them in their victory at the Sweethearts of the Caribbean Regatta but managed a credible 3rd in their class against some very fast and larger opposition; a split asymmetric and a start penalty did not help our cause in two of the races.
A couple of collisions and demastings involving other competitors did not dampen the camaraderie and fun shared by all the entrants.

On Sunday a sail by parade was arranged through English Harbour which involved water bomb ambushes on unsuspecting yachts and their crews.
After the Regatta end Boatshed BVI sailed back safely from Antigua to the British Virgin Islands and were privileged to see a pilot whale on its migration South.

After a long week of great sailing the Boatshed BVI team is now raring to get back into the groove of partnering yacht buyers and sellers.
