The main 80 hp FORD Mermaid engine is supported by a PERKINS Parama MD30 engine which serves the dual purpose of secondary propulsion and electricity generation, through the 5kVA generator. The engine cooling system supplies the Calorifier which serves the domestic hot water system.
The engine room is easily accessible from beneath the owners suite bed.
The watermaker produces 20 US Gallons per hour. Mastervolt Smart Chargers supporting a dual 24/12 Volt system.

The boat can be sailed as a 7/8th Bermudan Sloop or Cutter. The staysail and foresail are self furling with Rotostay Mk2 furling gear. The mainsail is also self furling through the Banmar in-mast system, contained in the deck stepped mast.

Steel construction with underwater profile, paint finish
The welded steel hull is a clever combination of round bilge plating (4mm) above the water line and of triple hard chine (6mm) below. The hull has been shot-blasted, zinc coat epoxy primed and then given7-8 coats of epoxy paint with a final spray coat finish. The hull is fully foam insulated.

The saloon offers comfortable seating with dining table. The aft owner's suite comprises of a large double bed, ensuite facilities, having access from both the saloon and aft cabin. Access is from the owners suite to the aft cockpit. Mahogany trimmed throughout.
The centre cockpit provides space with shelter and security.

If, you are anything like me, you probably spend the occasional, idle moment musing about the day when you sail off into the sunset, never to be seen again on this rain sodden turf.
Well, this is a boat that I might muse about doing it on.
She was designed by David Thomas to be the first of a new breed of medium displacement, high volume, easily handled steel cruising yachts. David Thomas? You know, he of Sigma, Elizabethan and Sonata fame, amongst many, many more.
She feels enormous on deck and below, a result of the enormous 14 foot beam.
There is storage space for everything, everywhere, all accessible. This boat is built for Blue water cruising, still providing the long distance yachtsman with nearly all of the comforts of home.
