Broker's Comments

Originally built in Carvel wood as a weekend cruiser in the mid fifties, the design proved to be an instant success around Poole harbour where they were made. Their shallow draft, predictable handling, easy to push hull, ground taking and sensible layout made for a great all rounder. Mitchell and Sons then made a customs launch version which led to even more popularity and orders flooded in from all over the world for the resulting robust little workboat. It was the prefered choice of the Thames police for decades and the last of their fleet were only recently retired. Being fairly narrow in the beam, whilst not making them cavernously roomy, the bow will comfortably slice through the hard and short chop found on most UK estuary's and coastal waters. This particular example is well built and well found. She benefits from a competantly maintained and reliable engine, and a clean and well presented interior. She will however thank the person who takes a varnish brush to her cockpit wood. On balance a great boat for a couple to weekend cruise, enjoy spot of fishing, or on a pleasant Sunday afternoon disappear up a creek with a picnic, a beer, a copy of the Times and....Happy Days!!!
